National Donate Life Month, observed in April, is dedicated to encouraging Americans to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors, while recognizing those who have saved lives through donation. National Donate Life Month was established by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations in 2003. According to Donate Life America, one organ, eye, and tissue donor can enhance the lives of more than 75 individuals, and more than 113,000 people are currently waiting for a lifesaving donation.

Melissa, a member of Centene's Texas Superior HealthPlan, committed to becoming an organ and tissue donor because of her desire to help other people. She passed away in May 2019 after battling chronic illness, but her organ and tissue donation improved the lives of many.

Superior's care coordinator Ashleigh was inspired by Melissa's willingness to make a difference. In this video, watch how Superior and Ashleigh helped Melissa's mother honor her daughter'' legacy and raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.

People of all ages and medical histories are potential donors, though some medical conditions could prevent individuals from being living donors. Comprehensive evaluations are performed by trained clinical teams to protect the health and safety of donors and recipients.
