Centene's Code of Conduct
Driving Business Accountability
Being a leader in healthcare means doing things the right way, each day. We cultivate a culture of business accountability that is shaped and supported by Centene’s Board of Directors, our Code of Conduct, a strong ethics and compliance framework and proactive risk management. Our mission of transforming the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time, requires us to maintain our members’ trust. This trust includes leveraging information security practices to maintain the privacy of member data.
Ethics and Compliance
Centene’s Ethics and Compliance program guides employees when conducting the business affairs of the organization and stresses the tenet that “Compliance Is Everyone’s Responsibility.” We believe that each and every one of our employees is integral to maintaining the company’s reputation, and Centene holds staff accountable to always take personal responsibility for choosing what is right.
We’re proud of the honorable reputation and exceptional culture we have built through the hard work and integrity of our employees. Our commitment to upholding this reputation and acting with the highest values and principles will never wane.
Data Privacy and Security
Centene’s vision of transforming the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time, requires us to maintain our members’ trust. This trust includes leveraging information security practices to maintain the privacy of member data. Our privacy policies govern the collection and use of member data and describe the measures we take to protect information and how members may initiate inquiries and raise concerns regarding the collection, sharing, and use of their personal data. We have established procedures for responding to data incidents, including when and how to engage with internal management, stakeholders and law enforcement.
Governance and Accountability
Centene believes that good corporate governance is important to ensure we are able to create and sustain long-term value for our stakeholders. Our structure, policies and procedures demonstrate the Board’s commitment to effective governance and accountability.
Risk Management
The Board of Directors has responsibility for the oversight of enterprisewide risk management at Centene, while management is responsible for the day-to-day management of risks. We employ internal processes and robust controls to identify and manage risk.
Public Policy
As the leading provider of health insurance to many lower income and medically complex populations, Centene has a responsibility to use our data and experience to shape public policy efforts to make healthcare more accessible and easier to navigate for our members and communities.
